Large one-crop (mono-culture) agriculture, large intensive livestock operations, make us all vulnerable to ecological disaster, epidemic plant and animal disease, polluted land and water resources, and makes our economy especially vulnerable to fickle global production trends.

Aboriginal peoples who have shared the wealth of their traditional lands with more recent citizens need to be recognized for this, and must be more effective beneficiaries of the wealth generated from resource industries.

Food Banks have become a long-term band-aid to mask the injustice of the economic system in which we live.

“Community kitchens” where community food resources are shared and individuals and families are shown how to prepare nutritious and safe food is a better idea than food banks which dole out limited food charity.

Saskatchewan needs a province-wide “Food Charter” which recognizes the rights of our citizens to safe and nutritious food. We also need new strategies to meet these needs and to support local economies. WE SAY YES
Safe and nutritious food produced in Saskatchewan must be available for purchase by Saskatchewan consumers, increasing our self-reliance and supporting the local Saskatchewan economy.

Needless environmental and habitat destruction to meet the short term plans of large private and crown corporations continues unhindered under an NDP government.
WE SAY NO
Saskatchewan communities know what will sustain high quality of life and the local economy better than far away government officials in Regina, and deserve the economic resources and decision-making power to make their communities quality places to live and sound economic centres
